Malawian Beaches
Salima and Senge Bay Only one-and-a-half hours drive away from Malawi's capital city of Lilongwe is Senga Bay. On the Lake Malawi shore, Senga Bay offers the visitor a beautiful beach, campsites, hotel and some of the best curios in Malawi. Lake Malawi is crystal clear making it idyllic for snorkeling, kayaking and other water sports activities. Malawi is a bird watchers dream, the fact that Malawi is on the cusp of East and southern Africa, and the huge variety of habitats - from tropical forests and woodlands to wetlands and the Lake - have resulted in a great cross-section of birdlife. Around 650 species of birds have been recorded in this small country. For
many travelers, the haunting cry of the fish eagle is synonymous with
their holiday at Lake Malawi. The Lake's rocky islands have more African
fish eagles (Malawi's national bird) than anywhere else in the world,
while the shorelines are home to a whole collection of species; from
small, colorful kingfishers to the giant Marabou stork.
